My 3rd great grand father, Bernard Divine, was from Ireland. I'm told he was born around 1801 and was likely a clerk of courts or deputy when La Touche was High Sheriff over Kildare. My great great grandfather, John Thomas Divine, was said to have been born in Carnalway. He had older sisters, Mary Ann (1830) Margaret (1832?) and Susan (1834?). Bernard or his parents may have been Huguenots from France.
His family came to the US in Nov 1846 on the Patrick Henry. Some say he returned to Irelamd and Died in Clogher in 1875.
Update- ive since found the baptismal records for Mary Ann, Susan and another daughter named Frances. They were from the Kilcullen parish in Kildare. Still trying to find Bernard's birth info. I found a tithe appoltment for a Bernard Divine in 1827 but the area makes me question if it was him.
