  • My Gearys were from Ardmore, County Waterford. Thomas Guiry/Geary married Ellen Curreen and they lived just behind St. Declans Church. They were both born about 1807 and died in 1870.

I have seen the name Brigid/Bridget Geary many times in my research.

Please give me more info on your Brigid.

  • Hi John:

Thanks for responding to me message.

I have been seaching for my great grandmother's (Ann McDonald according to her baptismal certificate) ancestry.  We know she was baptized in the Parish of Trinity Without, diocese of Waterford on 2/23/1883.  It lists her parents as Thomas McDonald and Elizabeth Prendergast.

As I have been told by several researchers, the surnames seem to evolve and change for many diffrent reasons so .........

I have found a Thomas Mcdonel born in Upper Knockanpower, Ring parish, Waterford. Baptized 14 November 1824. Father Thomas Mcdonel and Alicia Henissey. Sponsors were Patrick Tobin and Julianna Roach (sponsor surname when Brigid was born 1857).

Brigid Mdconnel (from previous paragraph), born baptized 30 August 1857 in Trinity Without, Waterford. Father Thomas Mcdonnel and mother Elisabeth Prendergast. They lived at May lane. Sponsors were Martin and Anastasia Roache.

I have also found a Elisabeth Prendergast that was baptized 1 June 1829 in St Marys Clonmel parish, Waterford. Father was William Prendergast and Brigid Geary. Sponsors were Cornelius Brannigin and Mary Sheely.

I have yet to be able to verify anytihng beyond the information on the Ann's baptismal certificate. ANy additional information you might have would be apprecieted.
