Catherine Rourke/O'Rourke was baptised 4 September 1859, daughter of Patrick Rourke and Bridget 'Biddy' Brogan in Bouladuff, Co. Clare, Ireland.

Catherine O'Rourke arrived alone as a 'Free Settler' - female domestic servant aboard the Scottish Bard at Keppel Bay, Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia 13 August 1876.  The Scottish Bard carried one English, ten Scottish and 244 Irish settlers.

On 30 January 1885 in the outback town of St. George in Queensland, Catherine married George Meiklejohn and over 19 years they added eleven children to the population within the Maranoa region of Queensland, Australia.  Eight sons and three daughters.

George was employed in the Railway and then became a Licensed Victualler whilst Catherine managed the children and domestic duties.

Sadly, Catherine passed away in Roma, Queensland, Australia at the young age of 61 years on 30 October 1920 and was buried in the Roman Catholic section of the Roma General Cemetery, Queensland, Australia.
