Hello Pat,
My ancestor, John Potter and his family were also from Knockcommon Civil Parish, particularly the townlands of Newtown Drominhall and Cullen. I've done extensive research on Knockcommon Parish and am happy to share it with you if interested. For example, the 1833 Tythe Applotment record show for Gilltown shows John Boyan (as well as my ancestor John Potter in Newtown Drominhall, misspelled Pewtowndrominall) as well as a John and Joseph Boylan listed in the 1854 Griffith's Valuation in Gilltown.
Best regards,
Ed Potter
Daniel Boylan and Julia/Judith Walsh lived in Gilltown, Knockcommon civil parish 1850s-1930s, Catholic Parish Donore. They had 7 sons -- four emigrated to USA, one to Australia. Two remained in Gilltown -- John died at age 22; Nicholas married but had no children (both buried Knockcommon Cemetery). I'll be visiting Ireland in October-November. Plan to visit family farm and area historical sites. Any suggestions for what to see or do in the area?
Would also like to visit seaside places they may have gone - any suggestions?

Hi Ed,
Sorry for delay in replying -- hit with a hurricane on Aug. 30! All good now.
During my visit to Ireland last year, was able to find out much more about Daniel, Joseph, John, etc.! And how they are related. Had forgotten about this Ancestor Database so thanks for the reminder! Will update this in next week or two. Daniel was my second great grandfather and Joseph my third.

Hi Pat
Glad to hear your trip to Ireland was so fruitful in your family search! As I plan my eventual trip to Ireland, I would be curious to know if you could recommend any useful sources that were particularly helpful to you while there -- we're both searching in the same general neck of the woods. If you wish, we can correspond offline via email: edpotter3of7@gmail.com.
Best regards,
