  • Hi, Margot,

Daniel Gwydir (~1812-1890) was my g.g.g.grandfather. He didn't come to Australia. He was the son of Daniel Gwydir (died 1842) and Eliza McKenna, married in Dublin 2 February 1808. They lived at Grove Lodge, which I believe was near Thurles, co. Tipperary.

Daniel married Lydia Lanphier (~1812-1888) in Dublin in 1834. Their home was Rockford House, which I believe was near Littleton, co. Tipperary. They died there and both are buried (or at least they are named on a family headstone) in Ballymureen cemetery at Littleton. Lydia was the daughter of John Pennefather Lanphier and Blanche Langley, of Parkstown, co. Tipperary. Daniel and Lydia had at least seven children. Four of them left Ireland mid 19th century. Three came to Australia and one went to NY, USA:

Bessie Gwydir (1834-1886) was my g.g. grandmother. She migrated to Melbourne, VIC, Australia in 1860 as Eliza Clark with her son William Clark (1858-1921).

John Lanphier Gwydir (1836-1917), migrated to Melbourne, VIC, Australia, 1857.

Vernon Gwydir (1838-1913), lived in Littleton

Daniel Gwydir (1841-1905), migrated to NY, USA about 1868.

Anna Maria Gwydir (1842-1877), lived in Littleton

Jane Gwydir (1845-1889), migrated to Melbourne Australia in 1864.

Blanche Lanphier Gwydir (1849-1933) lived in Dublin.

    Regards

    Paul
