Dominick Ronayne was a member of the Irish bar and a cousin of Daniel O'Connell.
In the "Gentleman's Magazine" of 1836, he was described as being a very popular man. The proof of this was considered to be the turnout for his funeral which reportedly was around 100,000 people.
