All we know is that Eliza was born in Westmeath and was variously named Eliza or Elizabeth Doyle. Her baptism was recorded on July 7, 1838 in Westmeath, Rochfortbridge, Ireland. On the scanned certificate (attached), her name is 'Eliza' but on her marriage certificate (attached), it's 'Elizabeth'. Also, her mum's name was shown as 'Julia' Mooney on Eliza's marriage certificate, but on the birth certificate, it's 'Judith' Mooney. Her dad was James but this seems to have been shortened to 'Jas'. On the Ancestry transcribed record of her birth (attached), it states that the baptism occurred in Westmeath, Rochfortbridge, Ireland in the Diocese of Meath. We don't know when Eliza immigrated to Australia but she was recorded as 28 years old (but was probably 30) when she married John Fenton in 1868 in Mansfield, Victoria, Australia. We know from her marriage certificate that she was a servant and unable to sign her name. There were several Eliza Doyle's immigrating from Ireland/England to Australia in the 1850's and 1860's - just which one she was is unknown at this stage.
