Elizabeth MARLIN (nee LEAHY) arrived at Port Jackson, Colony of New South Wales, on 25 November 1852 with husband John & children Bridget & Thomas on barque "John Gray"; unfortunately, another daughter (Catherine) died from measels en route. They settled in the coastal Shoalhaven region where John worked, initially, as a farm labourer, and later, having acquired a small holding, as a dairy farmer. For reasons no longer known, in about mid-1880 the family surname became MARLAN.
Elizabeth & John had a further 3 children after arrival in the Colony - they were Eliza (born 1854), Michael (born 1856), and John (born 1857).
Elizabeth died at Bendeela, Lower Kangaroo River, in the Shoalhaven region on 30 July 1900, and was buried in the local cemetery. No evidence of her grave remains.
