1. Ellen Elizabeth was baptised in 1832 with parents William Jourdan and Judith Feighney. Ellen's sister Mary was born in 1834. Ellen's brother Edmundus was baptised in 1836. All baptism's at Dromcollogher. Ellen came to Australia on the Tippoo Saib arriving on 29 July 1850.
2. DNA matches from Ellen's family, also match with descendants of Maria Jourdan who married Jacbum Canty on 7th January 1834. Maria's birth ( location not known) possibly either 1809 or 1812. Wedding at Dromcollogher and witness's Johannes and Helena Jourdan. Four Canty children were baptised at Dromcollogher Joannem 1835, Timothy 1837, Jeremiah 1838 and Davidem 1840. The family came to Australia in 1844. Children of these families married in particular O'Connor's and as a result many DNA connections can be found.
3. Another connection appears to include Brigida Jordan born to David Jordan and Ellena Connell. Brigida baptised at Dromcollogher in July 1849. Brigida also has a sister Ellena baptised at Dromcollogher in April 1844.
4. Another DNA match is with Honora Jordan baptised at Mahoonagh in July 1828 to parents Pat Jordan and Eliza Leary. Honora had a sister Mariam baptised 1819 and a brother Daniel baptised 1821 with both baptism's Mahoonagh.
My query is how are these 4 families connected? In addition how does John Jordon fit into these families.
I am trying to work out where my great, great grandfather John Jordon fits in who was possibly born between 1810 and 1830.
According to his son Patrick Jordon, who has an Australian wedding certificate in 1879 where he nominates he was 28 years old and his father was John Jordon and his mother was Mary O'Connor. We cannot find any baptism or wedding records for John or Mary. Patrick also nominates he was born in Westminster Middlesex. Again we have not been able to find birth or baptism records that match this marriage certificate.
Our family members who are descendants of Patrick Jordon have DNA matches with the desendants of the 3 Dromcollogher baptism's in 1 ,2 and 3 above plus the Mahoonagh family in 4.
Any assistance on sorting out the above connections would be appreciated.
