Henry Connors : Short Biography

I have information about Henry Connors from 1886 up to and including 1908 and then he disappeared!

Henry was born on July 12, 1886 in the Workhouse Hospital in Thomastown, Kilkenny. His mother was Johanna Connors, father Unknown.

He had an older brother Patrick Connors (born June 9, 1880).

His mother married Richard Hanrahan on February 9, 1891 in Thomastown, Kilkenny. He had three half-sisters all born in Thomastown, Kilkenny. Margaret was born on March 23, 1892 , Mary on February 19, 1894 and Johanna on June 29, 1897.

According to the 1901 Census, Henry was attending school and living with his family at #4 Mounteen Street in Thomastown, Kilkenny.

On October 2, 1901, Henry was arrested for throwing stones at and breaking the windows of the home of Mary Hutchinson on Pipe Street in Thomastown, Kilkenny. He went to Court on December 3, 1901 and appeared in front of Justice Major Jonnilean (sp ?). Charge was dismissed. On the same day, he joined the British Army for six years as a Militiaman for the County of Kilkenny. He served in the Royal Irish Regiment and his Service Number was #2766. I have copies of his Attestation Records.

On February 1, 1906, Henry was arrested for drunkenness on a public road and again went before Justice Major Jonnilean (sp. ?) on February 1, 1906. He was found guilty and paid the fine on the same day.

On September 26, 1908 Henry was again arrested for being drunk in a public place. He was found guilty and paid the fine on October 8, 1908.
