Father- Richard Allen- married Margaret Sweeney in Summerhill Parish, 10 July 1825.
Mother- Margaret Sweeney, dtr of Hugh Sweeney who died 3 March 1824, Dangan, Summerhill Parish. Margaret's brother was Patrick Sweeney b 1798 d 6 March,1884, Summerhill Parish. Patrick married Mary McCall 6 May 1827. They had 12 children.
Mary, b 1826, Francis b 1829, John b 1833, Patrick b 1835, Peter b 1837, Richard b 1839, Thomas b 1841, Edward b 1844, Catharine b 1847. Catharine married Owen Byrne in 1872, her children were Thomas, Margaret, Edward, and Catharine (Proffitt)
Hugh left Ireland for NY in about 1857, married Margaret Durney in Jersey County, Illinois in 1864. Their children were Richard b 1865, Margaret b 1867, Rose b 1868, Thomas b 1870, and Hugh b 1873. Hugh died in Jersey County on April 25, 1891.
