My great-grandfather was Hugh Fox from County Leitrim. He was born in January 1839 to Michael and Rose Fox (maiden name possibly O'Reilly). Hugh married Ellen Smith (daughter of Patrick Smith and Mary Smyth of Glebe, Leitrim) on 09 Feb 1864 in the Roman Catholic Chapel of Ballinmore in Ballinmore, Leitrim. They had 10 children. In 1884 Hugh left Ireland and went to Providence, Rhode Island, USA. In 1886 he sent for his son, Patrick and the 2 of them worked and saved to bring the rest of the family to Providence in 1889. Patrick was the only one of the children to marry, he was my grandfather. All the rest of the Fox family, with the exception of the children that died in Ireland, are buried in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, USA. If anyone can add any information to this family I would love to hear it. I am especially intereted in Ellen Smith's family. Ellen was also born in 1839.
