James Boyle’s was born in the 1820's in County Wexford. As a young man he left Ireland for Argentina. This was a period of intense emigration. There was a particular concentration of people who relocated from Wexford to Argentina. Many of the Irish managed to make a decent life for themselves in Argentina, however for James Boyle this was not the case. Although he initially seemed to have found marital bliss with this wife Mary, an Irishwoman from Kilmore, it sadly was not to last. James’ story became one of infamy, as he brutally murdered his wife in 1888. At his trial he claimed that he had been driven mad from drink. The legal system at the time allowed for insanity caused by excessive drinking and so he was freed from prison after only serving one year for the killing.
Few other details are known about James' life after his acquittal.
