James is mentioned in the Tithe Applotment for 1823 at Rathnafushogue, just outside of Hacketstown, Co. Carlow. In 1852, he is at Water Lane in the town. He and his wife had five children, John, Emily, Mary Ann, Jane and James. Emily died aged 12 in 1852 but the others lived to be adults. John and Mary Ann both married but Jane and James did not. They appear in the 1901 Census living at the Water Lane address. James died in early 1884.
