James Hogan was born in c.1812 at Emly Tipperary, the son of Ellen Reardon and John Hogan. In Ireland James married Kitty Harrington and had two sons Daniel born in 1831 and James born 1834. James Snr was convicted of stealing sheep along with Thomas Hogan, Margaret Ryan and Bridget Hogan. The trial was held in Limerick on 10 March 1835 and James was sentenced to Transportation for Life to the Colony of Australia leaving behind a wife and two children. James travelled to Australia on the Ship Hive2. He was a "tolerable carpenter" according to the convict records. He had done 6 1/2 years of his apprenticeship and worked on the Croker Estate in Limerick. James was granted a Ticket of Leave in 1842.and married Bridget Collins in 1846. Bridget was the daughter of  Michael Collins and Catherine Connor. James and Bridget had eight children together. He died on 22 August 1885 in Bathurst, New South Wales, at the age of 73. James and Bridget have Hundreds of direct descendants in Australia. I am their GGGrandson.
