Immigrated to United States of America from Queenstown, County Cork on May 7, 1903 via the vessel Germania at the age of 18 years old. Lived in Poughkeepsie, NY with his brother Thomas D'Arcy who had immigrated to the United States of America before him and who married a Florence Simms. Oldest sister Margaret also immigrated before him and married a Michael Walsh.
James worked for Hudson River State Hospital in Poughkeepsie NY as a cook for over 30 years. He married sometime between 1907 and 1910 in Poughkeepsie, NY to a Sarah McCormick (1880-1963). Marriage produced three children, Mary A, Vincent J, and Sarah (Sally) who all grew up and lived their lives in Poughkeepsie, NY. Mary married a Thomas A Murphy, Sarah married a Vincent J Sterns, Vincent D'Arcy married a Doris Crum. Many children, grand children, and great grand children follow mostly born in the same area.
