James Moroney was born in 1816. He married Anne Coughlan (b. 1822) probably around 1843. No record of their marriage has been found. They had 3 children born in Ireland, according to baptismal records from the parish of Ballinahinch-Killoscully: Martin (b. 31 Jan 1845, sponsors Thomas Coughlan and Judith Gleeson) Bridget (b. 26 Jan 1846, sponsors Patrick Moroney & Bridget McGrath) James (b. 25 Dec 1848, sponsors Thomas Binane and Bridget Cusack) All three baptismal records give an address of Shallee, Ballinahinch Parish. I assume "Shallee" is one of three townlands (Shallee White, Shallee Lower & Upper, and Shallee Coughlan) in Co. Tipperary nearby. The family left Ireland after the birth of James and before Sept. 1850. Martin may have died young, I have no evidence of him other than the baptismal record. They had two additional children, John, born Sept 1, 1850 in England who was a doctor, and Catherine, who was born in New York State in October, 1857. The family lived in the town of Throop, near the city of Auburn, New York, USA, where they died. There were other Moroneys living nearby who may have been related.
