James Muldoon was married to Mary Smyth (or Smith) daughter of Bernard Smyth. Mary had a brother Jas (a storekeeper in Knockbride). James Muldoon  may have had a sister who may have married a man named McBreen, he may also have had a brother named Patrick. Mary Smyth had a sister Margaret who married a man named John Bugden in Australia.

James and Mary had 7 children in Knockbride before they emigrated to Australia in 1878. They were, Susannah, Patrick, Mary, Bernard (my grandfather), Alice, Elizabeth and Bridget. Six came to Australia but Susannah remained in Knockbride and may have married a man named Clarke and then emigrated to the USA. I am still trying to locate details of Susannah.

My grandfather's teacher was apparantly named Quinn.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

  • Carmel, can you see if there was a teacher at the local Catholic School around 1876 named Quinn. Just trying to join the dots. Thank you.

  • Hi Bernard,  I am unsure where to find details of teachers that far back.  The only source available to me is 'Knockbride A History' written by Markey & Clarke and they have dealt with each of the schools in the area and there is no mention of a teacher by the name of Quinn, most likely they have not come across the name rather than that teacher not existing.  Sorry, I annot help with that, but if you have more details I can follow up on that.  Regards Carmel
