John English was born 22 Dec 1798 in Ireland. He married Catherine Phillips (b. 17 Mar 1790) 4 Feb 1819, Newport Parish, Tipperary, Ireland. They emigrated to Ontario, Canada sometime between 1829 and 1832. Five children were born in Ireland - Ellen b. 1820 and d. 1913 in Iowa, USA, Mary b. 1822, Thomas b. 1823, Ann, b. 1827 and William b. 1829. Son John was born 14 July 1832 in Brockville, Leeds, Ontario, Canada. John English Sr. died 11 Mar 1886 in Neenah, Winnegabo, Wisconsin, USA. Wife Catherine died 18 May 1869 In Brockville. Daughter Ellen married Gershom Olds. She died 1913 in Iowa.
