My great-great grandparents, John Hassett (b. 1811- d. 1881) and Margaret Cosgrove (1818 – 1895) came to the USA from Croom, Ireland. They are listed on my great grandfather William's death certificate as HIS parents. John's tombstone, which I have personally seen, says he was a "native of Croom, Co Limerick, Ireland". John and Margret were married in Croom on 02 February 1845 according to (St. Mary's in Croom) parish records there. According to Griffith's valuation tax rolls, between 1845 and 1851, John was a tenant farmer in Croom, in the Ballinfreera townland. The plot was south of Croom in Ballinfreera. John emigrated to the USA in early 1865.
I know even less about Margaret (or Margret) Cosgrove (or Cosgrave or Cosgriff or Cosgreave). Their marriage record says she is from Banogue. Margaret Cosgrove's parents may have been Martin Cosgrove and Honora Riordan. Or Bart and Ellen Cosgrove.
The other sets of great-great granparents are
Paul Hayes (Dec 1817 - Sept 1904) and Ellen O'Neill (June 1829 – May 1910).
Dennis Donovan (abt 1815 – Sept 1890) and Catherine Hayes 1825? - ??). Her father was Edmund Hayes.
Thomas Wall ( Sep 1839 – Oct 1922 ) and Mary A. Conlin ( July 1840 – Jan 1916 ).
I do not know where in Ireland any of them lived before they came to the US.
My own name is John Hassett. I am an American of Irish descent. I will be in Ireland at the end of May and beginning of June 2018, and would like some genealogical assistance to find more information about my ancestors, and to find and meet Irish relatives now living in the Limerick area. All four sets of my great-great grandparents on my father's side came from Ireland. The Hassetts came from the townland Ballinfreera in Croom, near Limerick city.
