Hi. I'm also researching my Jackson ancesters in Canada. Your John and Elinor might be related to my family, but I'm unsure. There seems to be many Jacksons from Armagh.
My 2x grandfather was also John (married to Mary nee Jackson). He was born 1811 in Armagh to my 3x grandparents Joseph Jackson 1781-1843 and Anne (unknown surname) 1778-1839: they are my furthest link to the past. John died 1884 in Trafalger, Halton, Ontario, Canada (also the death place of his parents).
Are we connected?? Perhaps your John is Joseph's younger brother?? Its a mystery I'm researching with a few other Jackson descendents.
