Hi Margot, 

As far as I'm aware Catherine and John remained in Ireland. They may have, but I haven't seen anything that mentions it. Thank you for responding, I appreciate it.

Poss. birth for John (the Father) as this was the only one listed that I found, there again there are records missing.
It's in Latin.     John Kane...........7th July 1800   Right hand page dates 5 6 then 7th July, Joannes   Father Michael  Mother Judith Moloney this is Newport

Hi, thanks for the response Margot, I will definitely look at it momentarily. The only information I had was what I found on Ancestry but no sources to add verification at all, just what someone may have written by assumption. What is in Ancestry is ' John Kane 1803'  and ' Catherine Ryan 1805'  There are others on Ancestry who have placed them in their trees with the surname ' Keane ' 

The only thing that is accurate is that John and Catherine's son John was born in Thurles. My mother did mention hearing that Keane was changed to Kane in the past by an ancestor who was travelling on a ship and upon meeting another traveller with an identical name, my ancestor changed it to a Kane, though naturally I'd assume not in any legal way, but probably just by going by that name from then on. Are the Kane's in your tree too Margot?

The tree I have done is on Ancestry if you want to see it, it's not private. It's the Kane/Gunn tree

Hi Karen, No sorry I am not related to any Kane.
I have seen your tree.
I just try to help.
My Uncle was born in Dublin, his parents were from Tipperary, their next children were born in Tipperary.
Newport is only 5 Parishes away from Thurles.
I will look at your tree again, ok.

Hi Margot, I did try to respond to you a few times prior to now but it kept saying there's an error, soi do apologise about seeming like I wasn't replying but that's the reason why.

I was wanting to say how very kind natured you are in helping others just out of the goodness of your heart. That's sadly something of a rarity these days. With your being based in Ireland it would make research far easier for you. Have you done a tree on Ancestry at all. I began one on My Heritage but not really happy with how the trees are set out and I've had far more information from ancestry. They have a section which enhances photographs really good, plus colourisation as well,that's about the main thing I like about the site. If you ever think I may be able to help you with something at all, please don't hesitate in asking me.

Hi Karen, I am not in Ireland, I was born in Nenagh, Tipperary and lived between Ardcroney and Borrisokane for 6 months, then we moved to England. Now I live in Wales.
I do have a tree in Ancestry and one for my husband. My main tree is my original one on good old excel. 
I try to help as I know where to look.
I will look at your tree again and see if I can find more info about the family.

Hi Margot, It sounds like you left Ireland quite a few years ago,I gather your accent isn't as strong as what it would be had you never left the country. I've only ever used a laptop or my iPad when I've used the internet to look up things. I always log into Ancestry by going through Google, I did download the Ancestry app a few months ago, but it wasn't running correctly when I used it, so I didn't use it again after that so I just google ancestry.com.au each time and log in that way. I'm not that good with computers, so I wouldn't have a clue about using excel, I just thought it was something people use on pc's when they need to write a resume or to write letters. I was going to make a second tree on my ancestry account for my husband, but then I found out if he gets a DNA test done he won't be able to view any of the results. It says for all persons who get their dna tested (To view dna results you must be the owner of an ancestry account') Oh well, I guess it's probably because he has a totally different blood line. Imagine doing a tree and then finding that out. :(  I already had my dna test, it's when you mentioned your husbands tree that I thought I'd mention it to you. Well, time for a cup of tea, once again thank you for messaging me, I'm pleased I got to know you. :)

Hi Karen, I havn't got an Irish accent. You only have an accent if you talk before you are 5 in that country, I heard that years ago.
It's like if a non English speaker was taught English by a Welsh person they would pick up a Welsh accent.
Same if I went to live in say Australia, I would pick up their accent.  
I have never done a DNA. My cousin says it's great, I say No, I know where I am from!
