O’SHANNESSY John. John age 35 left Co Galway with his family prior to April 1854 and boarded the “City 0f Manchester” which arrived at Point Henry, Geelong Victoria on the 11th July 1854. John’s parents were Michael O’Shannessy (OShaughnessy) and Mary Broderick.
John would have been born c1814 probably in Co Galway
John married Bridget Conroy on the 31st January 1836. Eight Children were born in Ireland, but John and Bridget travelled to Australia with only Michael - b Woodford 1839, Mary - b Woodford 1840, John - b Rosmore 1843 and Margaret - b 1846. It is assumed that at least four children had died before their departure. There were two other children born in Victoria, Richard - b 1855 and Edmond - b 1858.
John died in Kingower Victoria on the 9th October 1885
