Married Margaret Buckley in 1841 in Bansha-Kilmoyler Parish. Had 5 daughters baptized in Bansha-Kilmoyler Parish.
He came to USA in 1852-53 and his wife Margaret, mother Mary Butler and 4 of the 5 daughters entered the USA in 1852 to1854. The 5th born daughter Bridget Butler born in 1851 does not show living with the family around the Dunkirk (Evans Township), New York. I am assuming that Bridget passed away sometime after her baptism in 1851. The other four daughters were Johanna, Mary, Ellen, and Margaret.
The family after they came to the USA lived in Evans Township, New York(1854-1859),moved to Delaware County, Ohio(1860- mid 1700's), and owned a farm in Union Prarie Township, Iowa(mid-1870 to late 1880) near the larger town of Waukon, Iowa.
Mary Butler the mother of John W. Butler shows as entering the USA in 1854 and shows in the 1855 New York State Census, but does not show in the 1860 USA Census when the family moved to Ohio. Mary either died sometimes between the late 1855 to early 1860 in the states or returned to Ireland during that time period, as she is no longer with the family on the 1860 USA Census.
Have searched for birth/baptism records of John W. Butler and have found two possible birth records. In the 1855 New York Census he staes that he is 40 years old which would place his birth year date as 1815.
1st finding of possible connections: John Butler - male child - Father - JOHN BUTLER - Mother - MARY MORGAN - Baptism Date Feb. 1st, 1815 - location/residense - Cappamore City -- 20 miles north west of Bansha - Limerick and Tipperary, Ireland.
2nd finding of possible connections: JOHN BUTLER - male child - Father - RICHARD BUTLER - Mother - MARY PHELAN - Baptism Date - April 27, 1816 - location/residense - Graffin/Townland - Cashel/Emly - Northeast of templemore and Bansha. There is some problems with the period of time between the birth listed as Feb. 14, 1813 and the baptism date of April 27, 1816.
ANY INFORMATION ABOUT EITHER OF THESE POSSIBLE CONNECTIONS RELATING TO THE MORGAN/BUTLER AND THE PHELAN/ BUTLER CONNECTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPERCIATED. Please post your comments below.
