Margaret Keefe was born in 1821 in Newcastle, Tipperary. Her parent were William and Margaret Keefe.
She came out to Australia with her brother John in 1842 as Bounty Immigrants on the ship Woodbridge. Her father was listed as dead at this date. She was a farm servant, aged 22.
In 1843 in Bathurst, New South Wales, she married Jeremiah "Darby" McEvoy. They had my ancestor, Mary, in 1844. She married John Atkins and they farmed in the Bathurst area.
Margaret and Jeremiah also farmed in the area but she had to give up the lease after he died in 1863, leaving her with 6 children aged from 19 to 6 years ( 2 sons had died ).
