Thank you for sharing this interesting story. I have traced my family back to Tinryland (Carlow) with Rosa Byrn(e). born 1743, died in Louisiana in the 1800's. It looks like her parents were Joannes Byrn(e) and Anna Clark, but I have no other information. Rosa apparently married a Conner (or), but I find no recorads of Conner or derivations in Tinryland parish. I would be interested in any other linage you may have for Margaret Byrne.

Martin Murphy was born and baptized in October 1880 in 3 Kylballyhue, Kelleston, Tinryland. His parents were Thomas Murphy and Elizabeth Maher and he had 3 brothers younger than him, Edward, John and Daniel.
He was a labourer for a time and could read and write. In 1904 he applied to be an apprentice in the very first class at Avondale Forestry station in County Wicklow and was accepted. In 1907 he was granted a scholarship for further education in Forestry in Dublin.
In 1910 he married Margaret Byrne who was working as a servant in Iveruisk Killiney. In 1911 in the census he was back in Avondale at the Forestry school with his wife. In 1912 He was sent to County Clare when Forestry started in the Vander Leur estate in feagrogue, Kilrush, it was here that my father Thomas Martin murphy was born. in 1914 they were back in Avondale where John was born and then they moved to Aughrane Castle, Ballygar where martin was the head forestor. There are newspaper adverts with timber for sale naming him as head Forestor. in Aughrane castle his third son Edward was born.
Unfortunately in 1919 he caught Influenza and died, there appears to be no death record and nor can I find a grave in the area. The only reason i know that it is so is because of a newspaper cutting saying he die of flu. It has been suggested to me that he could have been taken back to the family grave in tinryland but i have had no luck finding that. The last newspaper cutting is in 1920 with an advert for all his furniture being sold by margaret.

Margaret Byrne was born in shroughmore County Wicklow on 2nd June 1877 and died 1929 Clonakenny C. Tipperary
Her parent were John Byrne and strangely Margaret Byrne, she had 2 sisters Maryanne and Sarah. 5 brothers Michael, Denis, John, Patrick and Daniel.
Her paternal grandparents were Michael Byrne and Sarah? Her maternal grandparent were Denis Byrne and Maryanne? Of course some of this proven and some guesswork
