Mary Anne Hamilton was living in Newtownards in 1918 , she worked in service there and may have come from Enniskillan. She was Church of Ireland and attended St Marks church in Newtownards. She became pregnant and gave birth to identical twin daughters in Jan 1919 at the Belfast Midnight Mission . The twins were seperated and "adopted" by different families , my mother Dorothy Hamilton being one of them . According to the Midnight Mission registers the alleged father of the twins was called James Gilmour. Mary was discharged to Mrs Clara Uprichard of Campur, Newtownards who was the wife of L V Uprichard Clerk in Holy Orders at St Marks .I presume to work in service for them . LV Uprichard also signed at a witness on the "adoption" papers for my mother .
In 1921 the Uprichards had moved to the church at Dunsevenick Bushmills . Later in 1921 a Mary Hamilton was married there with her adress being Dunsevenick Rectory . LVUprichard performed the service and his wife Clara Uprichard was a witness . Mary married a Samuel Gill Williamson who's adress was 34 South st Newtownards , he was a plumber by trade . They went on to have a daughter called Winifred Mary and a son called William Samuel . Winifred married a man called Adam McAuley .
It seems to be quite likely that the Mary Hamilton who is my maternal grandmother would be the same Mary Hamilton who married Samuel Gill Williamson and would like any information that could confirm this . Unfortunately the church vestry minutes for that period of time at St Marks are missing .
