My great-grandfather, Michael Murphy, was born in Dublin, December 16, 1844.
His parents, Michael Murphy and Elizabeth Jennett were married on August 15, 1826, at the Church of Saint Nicholas of Myra (Without) on Francis Street in Dublin. His siblings were baptized at Saint Michael and John's and at Saint Catherine's during the span of 1827-1847.I have been able to locate all of their baptismal records except for Michael's. I have gone through the Dublin City Churches in the Ireland Catholic Register for the years 1842-1846 and still no luck.It is certainly possible I missed something or, perhaps, there is a transcription issue.I am also wondering if, perhaps, there was a home baptism or an in hospital baptism for health reasons.
Michael Murphy emigrated to the U.S.in 1867, settled in Newark, NJ, married Mary Matthews.They had eight children. He worked as a currier. My grandmother, Catherine Murphy Thornton, was born in Newark, NJ, U.S. on December 24,1884. Michael died on June 7, 1915.
