Migrated to/Born in Australia
I am trying to find out if my ancestor John Flannigan was actually a convict.
On Family Search, his daughter Margaret is listed as MVVB-D4Q and her birth location is Tuam born 1837.
I am interested in finding a butcher named John Flannigan in this area of Ireland who possibly was convicted for sheep stealing in Wicklow 1836 and came to NSW on the Earl Grey Ship of 1836. The proof from his ticket of leave (13/02/1845) would be that he had 8 children when convicted. One daughter named Margaret and the other named Mary Ann.
Both this convict John Flanagan and my ancestor John Flanagan lived in Goulburn NSW are listed as butchers and I believe to be the same person. But more proof is needed!
Please assist,
Regards Viv
