thanks Nate, i hope some of his descendents see it. one son who stayed in Ireland, John, had 8 daughters so would not likely carry the Lydon name but i may have living relatives there. i visited the area last June and meet many Lydons and Coynes (my 2nd great grandparents names) but no one seemed to know back that far.
i hope to connect with someone someday!

Wiccantank - I posted the other day about my great grandfather Austin Michael Walsh. He married Hanora Lydon from Conamara Parish, and she is my great grandmother.

Have you taken a dna test? wonder if we match??
Connemara is a large area in western ireland including County Galway. My family came from the civil parish (not like our catholic parishes) of Ballynakill in far west Galway on the Atlantic.
I'll bet your family came from there too!
I visited the parish 2 years ago and found almost everyone i met was named Coyne or Lydon (my 2nd great grandparents names). My GG grandmother was Catherine Lydon Coyne daughter of the Patrick whose photo is above.
If you want to join this parish and post about your family and see if anyone replies, make sure you join Ballynakill in barony of Ballynahinch (as theres a couple other ballynakill's in Ireland!)
Where did your Walsh/ Welch live in US? i believe mine came from this same parish!wiccantank

I will find out where Austin & Honora moved to when they left Ireland. They had a large family,my grandfather, their son Eugene Walsh married & lived on St Paul, MN where he & Mildred had 10 children.

Ive had DNA matches to Coyne's in Minnesota, Michigan and Pittsburgh area so i know there's groups from Ballynakill there.
My family settled in the little village of Marcellus in upstate NY outside Syracuse and through my research it seemed almost all the irish there came from the same parish and are interconnected!wiccantank

interesting the Walsh/ Welch connection. My Tady coynes mother was Ellen Walsh/ Welch and an Austin Welch came to Marcellus NY and was connected to Tadgh so I think he might have been an uncle.
I recently had dna matches to descendent of Stephen Welch, brother of Austin so that connecting seems likely true.
Also a recent dna match to the lydon family who runs Maol Reidh hotel in Tullycross where we stayed when visited the parish! Catherine lydon was married to Tadgh coyne and her parents Patrick lydon and bridget coyne also came to Marcellus with their daughter Jane lydon and her new husband Thomas Thornton after they married in chapel at Tullycross in 1869.wiccantank
