Hello, Pat. My GGgrandfather, Patrick Walsh, was born in 1795, in The Rower, County Kilkenny. He died at 70 (in 1865) in Newfoundland and married in 1836. I think he was born in The Rower Parish, not far fron Ballyhale. It's not improbable he was related to the Ballyhale Walshes, or was even from there since I am related (via cousins in Australia) to Walshes who lived right on the border between Tipperary and Kilkenny, further away than Ballyhale. I wish more Walshes would do their DNA. Have you done your family tree yebt?

Hi, Richard: Thanks for responding. My DNA cousins in Australia (McGoverns) actually visited the ruins of the old Walsh house on the Kilkenny/Tipperary border (directed to the site by a man named Quinn). I see now that I will be shifting my attention to Gortnahoe. Was one of the 7 children a Patrick? My daughter visited the area while on holiday but could not find the site.

Mary Walsh (married Richard Grace) was my 3 great grandmother. Her father Edmund Walsh was my 4 great grandfather.
All from my maternal ancestry from The Rower.

Hello, Mary: well this is the first contact I've ever had from someone who has ancestors from The Rower. I know so little of GGF's life that I don't know where to start. My family, unfortunately, was not much one for talking about ancestors. I'm the first to show interest. So, I don't know what information you have but I would be very appreciative of any you would care to share. Thanks in advance.

Hello
My whole maternal and paternal ancestry are connected to The Rower. My father, Thomas Moore, and his siblings, came to Australia in 1951. These surnames are in my tree - Moore, Fitzpatrick, Hoban, (paternal and most from Ossory Hill). King, Murphy, Grace Walsh (maternal and from The Rower). I've been to visit 3 times. Side branches of Crotty (post office), Kavanagh, Power, Butler, Cassin are all connections. I have done my DNA as has my dad, uncle and some cousins. All through ancestry com
I hope that helps.
Cheers

By the way, this is the first comment I've put here. I don't know how this works or who the people are or to see anyone's "profiles".

Hi, Mary: Thanks for responding. How this works is for a person to put their ancestors on this site with info regarding places in Ireland an ancestor was born. If a match is found either by name or Parish or Townland then the process is started for further enquiries/communications.In this case I will ask you which DNA company you, your Dad, Uncle, cousins etc. tested with and the Kit #'s and, if you consent to reply, I will attempt to see if our DNA have matches indicating possible relationships.I would then provide you with any information I find and any/all other info you might require.

Seems I jumped the gun with my last email. You family tree, I assume, is on Ancestry.com. May I ask if you could offer me an invitation as a guest with no power to make changes, just to view so I could see if there are any relationships to my family tree. It would be greatly appreciated.

Happy to do so - what is your name and email?
Where do you live?
I have the tree as private as I know there are errors and dumped "stuff" until I get around to sorting it.
The tree on ancestry.com is called Moore Family from The Rower. : - )Mary
