I have Peter Good a labourer from Macroom, sometimes recorded as Peter Britton Good, with his wife Alice (maiden name also Good) and their two children William & Mary who departed Cork on board the Bussorah Merchant on 24 August 1837. Peter and Alice married on 11 June 1833 at Aghabullog, Cork.
Their journey was a tough one and the ship was quarantined for several months on arrival in Tasmania – most of passengers were ill due to the appalling conditions on the ship. 58 passengers died on the journey, 54 of which were children.
Peter is the brother of Samuel Attridge Good, schoolmaster at Pembroke Docks, Wales.
I believe their parents to be William Good and Mary Attridge who married at St Fin Barres on 7 Feb 1809
Peter was baptised at St Fin Barres on 16 Dec 1809.
Samuel was baptised at St Fin Barres on 26 Dec 1813.
I also believe that William (b. 1785) was bother to Francis Good (1791-1861). He is often referred to as Frank Good in letters from Samuel to Peter in 1855/6. There may have been another also, Peter Good (b. 1788-1847) who was a well know shipbuilder in Dublin.
