My great-great grandfather, Stephen O'Brien, came to the United States sometime before 1860, but I don't know where or when he arrived in the United States. In 1860 he was living in St. Louis, MO and then migrated to the southern tip of Illinois where he died in 1905. After extensive research, it appears Stephen was from the Clonmel/Ardfinnan area, southern County Tipperary. I also have information that his mother was a Burke. I know all of this is very incomplete, but it's a start..
