He was born about 1795 in Ireland, possibly Dublin, to John and Ellen Locke. He married Helena Armstead in the Parish of St. Nicholas Without, in Dublin on the 28th of May 1817. Around 1821 he moved to the Dublin suburb of Rathfarnum and in 1830 he moved to Leeds, England. His occupation was in the wollen industry as a weaver. He emigrated to the United States 1n 1844 where he remained until his death on the 15th of Februarry, 1868, in Ware, Massachusetts, USA. He was the father of eleven children, five of them born in Dublin.
