Timothy Tuite, Farmer married 6 Feb 1828 at Newport, Kiloscully, Tipperary, Judy Ryan, daughter of Mic and Mary Ryan. Kiloscully, in the Roman Catholic divisions, forms part of the union or district of Ballinahinch.
Timothy Tuite occupied and farmed 106 acres at Ballinahinch and 206 acres at Curraghduff in Northern Tipperary.
HIs daughter Mary Tuite was born on 4 March 1833 at Curraghduff (reg. Nenagh Parish, Tipperary).
In 1845 at the time of the Great Famine, the Ballinahinch landlord was Thomas Barnewall Martin, Esq., of Ballinahinch (1786-1847) he was the eldest son of Richard Martin (Humanity Dick) “The King of Connemara” (1734-1834) a famous duellist who founded the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Thomas inherited the vast Martin Estate of some 200,000 acres following his father’s death in 1834. He spent a great deal of money helping his tenants during the period of the Famine years and, in 1847, he in turn died of famine fever which he contracted after visiting some of those tenants at Clifden Workhouse. His only daughter and heir, Mary Letitia Martin, inherited a heavily encumbered estate. of 200,000 acres. In the following two years her remaining fortune was destroyed in the potato famine as she attempted to alleviate its effects on her tenants. She married her cousin, Arthur Gonne Bell, and died in New York in 1850.
Timothy Tuite was a tenant of this Martin family and it is unknown when Timothy and his wife Judy (Judith Johanna) died. 1862 immigration record of Mary Horan (Tuite) noted both her parents were deceased prior to 1862.
