Walter Carew or Carey was a farmer in the Townland of Ballyglasheen, Parish of Kilfeacle, County Tipperary. His wife was Judy/Julie Walsh or Welch. They probably married in about 1790. His landlord in Ballyglasheen was Robert G Massy Esquire. From him, according to the Griffiths Valuation of 1847-1864, Walter rented a little over 24 acres (house and land) at a total valuation of about 21 pounds.
Living on the next plot was Patrick Carew, possibly a brother or son, who rented a smaller area from Robert Massy. John Carew, born in about 1810, maybe another son.
Walter and Judy Carew had at least one daughter, Anne or Nancy (born in about 1803). She married William Hally in about 1820. They lived in Golden, and emigrated to Sydney, Austraila with their nine children in 1841.
Walter Carew remained in Ireland. He was my 4x great grandfather and I would love to know more about this family!
