William is my great-grandfather. He was born in Kilkenny (City), County Kilkenny in 1853. His parents are Michael McCormack and Catherine Paine/Payne. Catherine was a widow and her married name was Steel(e). Within six months of his birth, he and his parents left Ireland for the United States. They landed in New Orleans then moved to Kentucky then to Ypsilanti, Michigan then a side trip to London, Canada and then back to Ypsilanti. They died in Otter Lake, Michigan.
