I have found William Ryan was baptised in the Parish of Kilcolman in the Diocese of Killaloe on 20 October 1844.
His parents were John Ryan and Ellen Quinlisk and sponsors John Hearns and Johnanna Drughan.
William Ryan imigrated to Australia and I have his family here in Australia but I am looking for any records of his parents in Ireland and his two known sisters.
All I know is the following
Williams parents John Ryan and Ellen Quinlisk were married in the Parish of Dunkerrin Diocese of Killaloe at Moneygall County Offaly on 8th February 1831. The witnesses on the Parish register were John Megher and John Cummins.
I have found two sisters - baptised Marianne Ryan was baptised 26 May 1833 in the same details as William. Marianne's sponsors were Henry Berkin and Mary Heivan. and Judith Ryan baptised10 May 1835 same parish details. Judith's sponsors were Daniel Duhan and Johanna Dalton.
With such a large gap of years between the baptisms of Judith and William I would like to find if there were any more children born to John and Ellen. Also would like to find any marriages of Judith and Marianne.

There was another William Ryan baptised in Kilcolman on 23/7/1837 with same parents John and Ellen. It was common back then, if a child died, to baptise another child with the same name. So it is likely that the 1st William died. There were 2 different John Ryans in the 1821 census living in this parish, one aged 23 and the other was aged 26, Their ages would tie in with the date of marriage of John in 1831.

My grandfather and great grandfather were both called William Ryan. My grandfather was born in Newry, but the data I have seen suggests that his father and ancestors on his fathers side came from closer to Limerick and his father was a merchant seaman, Limerick was of course a port as was Newry. I realise that Ryan is a very common family name (although not so common in Newry), but I wonder about the first name, William, whether William Ryan would have been very common. When I saw the mention of William Ryan on the XO updates it spurred my imagination again. I would very much like to find a link between the Ryan's of Newry and the areas of central-western Ireland where the name is much more common and where I feel they very came from some time between 1800 and 1850. I could not find anythhing on thr Ryans with the info you have. Which seems strange . Going to look into the Parish records to see if there is something there.
I looked up the poor union which at times more helpful then info that we have it has Roscre and not Offaly you might want to check that and some area's were know as Parsontown. Sorry for not replying I have been away. Margaret thank you for passing the information on about William Ryan baptised 1837. I have seen this one but was unsure if he could the same family.
David I do not know anymore about the family besdies the information that I have put up.
