Teach an Dúinín aka Dooneen House was the 19th-century long-house of the grazier John Sharkett aka John Sharkey JP was also a Cess-payer and sat on the Grand Jury for Frenchpark.

In 1829, John Sharkett of Dooneen registered as a freeholder of land at Dooneen. There was no house of any notable value in Dooneen in 1839. There were at least 6 small properties in his holding.

In 1857, John Sharkett JP held over 200 acres at Dooneen [GV#19a]. His holding was inherited by his son Patt Sharkey of Dooneen (1829-1896) farmer, who married Elizabeth Callary / Callily of Kiltobanks in 1866.

By 1901 Dooneen House is recorded as being slated with 11 windows to the front. In 1911, it had 8 rooms which were occupied by the family.

A farm is still extant at this location, with the original house being used as farm out-buildings.
