I'm also researching from Tobin kin in New York city area and Ireland.
I've had little luck searching online, but I'm very interested in knowing more about your James Tobin.
Did his family leave Ireland ?go to US? Where/When
A couisin has taken an Ancestry DNA test that indicates her line stems? from Kilkenny. I'm not usre exactly what that DNA test means
since from the Tithe Sumarries Kilkenny ,Waterford and Tipperary are the predominant Tobin surname strong holds.
Appreciate any help you and other folks might give. By the way I may actually have found my ancestor but can not positively connect him to my kin.
So, without proof of my gggrandfather's( Michael Tobin) place of birth or parish I can't get back to Ireland:( The ONLY child I have confirmation is my ggrandfather James Buchanan Tobin
born in August 1862. His son's name is James, and if he is indeed the first son, and he followed Irish naming traditions James "should "be the name of his grandfather ;right?
All the best Slainte.
