Rockfleet Castle or Carraigahowley Castle is situated near Newport and has strong associations with Grainne Mhaile, the Pirate Queen. It was built in the 16th century and constructed on four levels and is almost 20m in height. The Castle interior is closed to the public while work is carried out by the Office of Public Works.
