The Wonderful Barn is located on the Castletown Estate near Leixlip, Co. Kildare. It was built in 1743 as a famine relief project during the aftermath of the "Black Spring" of 1741.
Though it is often described as a folly, The Wonderful Barn was actually used as for grain storage, though the parapet doubles as a viewing platform for the Castletown Estate.
The Wonderful Barn is unusual in its corkscrew shape and external staircase, and it is over 70 feet high.
