Hi,
I'm researching 3rd great grandparents. Michael Barrett and Mary Guilfoyle were married in Caher 31 January 1839 in the Catholic church. (https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632136#page/16/mode/1up) The record appears to indicate the parties are from "Kafaun" which in the record looks like it might be a townland, but I can find no such place.
Does anyone have any idea what place this might be referring to? It looks like there are 3 or 4 priests performing marriages at that time and place, and G. F. Long seems to be the only one who includes the townland detail. But I can't recognize that townland. It is possible it no longer exists by that name.
Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mary
I looked up the record and it looks like Rafane to me, which is a townland outside Cahir. Hope this helps.
