I am researching my Ancestor Dr. Geoffrey /Jeffrey O'Connell b. abt 1760 at Killochane according to family belief. I do not know who his parents were. Which Parish should I contact to find out if there is a baptismal record available? I am from South Africa and would be grateful for any help in this regard. Kind regards, Marié Claassen de Vries

Welcome back to Ireland Reaching Out!
You did not mention the religious denomination of Dr. O'Connell. If he was Roman Catholic, no records exist in Co. Kerry back to 1760. The parish with the earliest records is Tralee and their records start in 1772. The early Church of Ireland records for Kilcrohane parish were destroyed in the 1922 fire at the Public Records Office in Dublin.

Hello Marie, Have you done a DNA test and see if it links up with any O'Connell Trees on the various site find my past Ancestry My Heritage. if you have a male O'Connell that dna would be better. Also I don't know if the O'Connell Tract (giving ancestors ) is still on www irish-cottage.net/o'connell now I think it is www.house of Ireland.org/o'connell. The registry of Deeds indexing project is being catalogues by volunteers. ww. irishdeedsindex.net/search/index. only half way through. Also www.beyonf 2022 digital reconstruction of the PRO record office. There are also Chancery deeds on one of the sites.
Also Betham abstracts of wills. www.timeline.ie/betham-genealogical-abstracts. You probably are connected to Daniel O'Connell. He is on all 3 site I think. So am I. Chris
