Been waiting to have my name to Foreign Births Registration base on my grandfather John Corcoran Baptism of 16-Apr-1851.
They require a birth Certificate but Birth Certificates don't go back that far. I sent them a Church Baptism Record created by rootsireland.ie but that is not acceptable. They want a statement that a birth certificate is not available which I have applied for and a Baptism Certificate issue by his Parish Church. Have not heard back from the Church to my email inquire. I was born when my dad was 60 years old. Can you recommend a contact person to speak too? Baptism: 16-Apr-1851, Address: Sonna, Parish: Colmcille, County Longford. Frank Corcoran icorkman @ gmail.com

Was able to locate, through the help of a local genealogist, where my birth grandfather's batism record is. The records were moved to Dublin, got a certified copy and submitted it to the Government. My only defect is that I don't have a death certificate. I submitted other evidence in its place since it was my belief that he died as a John Doe. John's wife died in 1895 of the Spanish Flu, about a year later I find that he was living in a flop house at which point he turned over his three sons to the Catholic Orphanage and was never heard of again. His three sons later erected a stone at their mother's grave honoring their parents. Waiting to hear the outcome of my case and will let it be. Thank you for your response.
