Brady, James, Michael, Hannah

The subscription site Roots Ireland has a few James Brady baptismal records with father Michael around 1833. However, none of the records has a mother named Hannah. The other complication is that not all RC parishes have records back to 1833 so it is possible that James was baptized in one of those parishes. The surname Brady was found in almost all counties in Ireland but by far Co. Cavan was the most likely area for your Brady family.

Per Ancestry in the 1871 Canadian Census James' mother is going by the name Anna. On his 1860 marriage record to Mary McCabe, his mother's name is Hannah.

Going back to Roger's research, on RootsIreland, there was a James Brady born in Cavan in 1833 to Michael Brady and Ann Brady (Maiden name). They were married in Cavan in 1826. The following children are posted on RootsIreland- Bernard 1827, Rose 1830, Ann 1832, James 1833, Margaret 1836. Michael is not listed but might have been missed. Are any of these names familiar to you?

There was a Michael born in Cavan December 24, 1828, father- Michael. Mother's name wasn't recorded. It might have been Ann Shafrey.

In the 1871 census, the neighbor to the James Brady and Mary McCabe family is Michael Brady 42 years old and his wife Mary McGiveney.

In 1901, Michael Brady, now married to Hannah Crowe, is 71 years old and his date of birth is listed as July 12 1829.

There are no parish records for Saint Pierre de Durham in L'Avenir for the years 1836 to 1850 making it impossible to find the parents as listed on marriage records.

But we can find additional information. The mother of James, as mentioned, is listed as Anna in the 1871 census. But the parish record at the time of her burying indicated Hannah Brady.

And on this record, it is mentioned that her son Michael is present.

On February 2nd of the year one thousand eight hundred eighty eight (us pastor...) have buried the body of Hannah Brady, widow of Michael Brady, farmer of this parish while alive, dead before yesterday at the age of 90 years old. Present, Michael Brady, son of the deceased and Edward Kelly, farmer of this parish, themselves have declared not being able to sign.

From this, it seems that the Michael Brady born in Cavan on December 24 1828 might be someone else. Nevertheless, there is a Michael Brady related to the older Michael Brady and Hannah Brady. And he seems to be born around 1829.

If by any chance you would have the exact birth or marriages dates for the members of the Brady family, I would be really appreciate.
