Hi,
Can you see the Civil Record image of this Peter Smith who died at end of 1870 at age 75? It may be my husband's ancestor who lived in Cargagh, Cavan.
I have purchased the Smith farm records from the Valuation office. One of the homes was rented by Peter Smith in 1857. His son, Andrew, took over renting in 1872 which has me thinking Peter died around 1870-71.
Andrew's son, my husband's grandfather, takes over renting in 1911 after Andrew died so the pattern fits.
It's hard when so many Smith Civil Images aren't online as I can't buy them all.
Thank you.

Hi, You say...........
Andrew's son, my husband's grandfather, takes over renting in 1911 after Andrew died so the pattern fits.
Andrew who died then the son took over what was his name? Any names of wives/mothers?
I see your problem with so many Smith people.
In Cargagh the Parish is Crosskeys there are 41 names listed in the 1901 census and only 2 in the 1911.

Margot,
Can you access the 1870 death record of Peter Smith, age 75, I attached?
Looking to see if this Peter Smith lived at Cargagh Crosskeys. His wife was Abigail and sons were John and Andrew Smith.
I'm estimating Peter Smith was born around 1800 and searching for his death record possbily 1870-1872 when his son took over land.
Thank you
