FARRELLS c -1800

Both DANIEL and WILLIAM emigrated to America in 1848.  I know no nothing about others in the family.  DANIEL'S obit states that only his brother WILLIAM was alive, that being 1907.

There is a gap in the Castlecomer RC baptismal records https://registers.nli.ie/parishes/0981 from 1818-1828 and very likely Daniel and other older siblings of William were caught in that gap and you won't locate any records. Marriage records did not start until 1831.

I also looked at the 1823 Tithe listings for Castlecomer parish and found a William Farrell with a very small holding (less than an acre) and a Michael Farrell who had four acres both living in Moneenroe. Here is a link to the Tithe record for Michael. Not sure how Michael (and William) are connected to the older Daniel. By the way, Moneenroe was a large townland with over 100 households.

I also looked at the 1849 Griffiths Valuation head of household listing for Castlecomer civil parish and although there were Farrell records, there was no Daniel and no one in Moneenroe. By the 1901 census there were no Farrells in Moneenroe but there were Bergins in the census.

Thanks for the reply.  That may explain why WILLIAM's bapism is of record and DANIEL'S is not.  In the 1850 US Census which records DANIEL and his new wife BRIDGET MURPHY, m 1849.  MICHAEL FARRELL is perhaps on the ship on which DANIEL Immigrated into NY, and MICHAEL FARRELL is the baptism sponsor or DANIEL'S first born, JAMES HENRY FARRELL, 1852.  His second born was named DANIEL FARRELL, JR.  Does this beg the question that JAMES HENRY may have been named for the grand father, DANIEL'S father?  There is some evindence that BRIDGET'S father was named JAMES, and HENRY is a dominant name in her family.

I hve traced both DANIEL's and WILLIAM'S families through to the present.  William married Bridget's sister and it is a wild story of immigration, mistaken ships and long distances.

There is a William Farrell from Castlecomer who died in New York City in 1910.  He was 83. He married a Dora Kavanagh. I am not sure if there is a connection. His son-in-law was a William Brennan. William Brennan was also from Ireland . William and Dora had 10 children. 

I am looking for information about William Farrell. He is my great great grandfather.
