Hi there,
I have linked this to the Kerry message board, though I am not sure if my ancestor was from Kerry. I know that there is an abundance of Bowlers in Kerry and so I am just reaching out just in case.
This is what I do know, Harry was born in either 1879 or 1880, all of his census, marriage, and death records state that he was born in Ireland and that his parents were born in Ireland as well.
He immigrated to Canada sometime before 1911, though I do not know if he arrived with his parents or not. A family story states that he arrived in Canada with his brother James and that they parted ways in Montreal, to never see one another again. His religion listed on the 1911 Census in Canada is Presbyterian and Methodist in 1921. Though my great grandmother (Canadian born) was Methodist, so this could be the reasoning behind the change.
His marriage certificate states that his father's name was Thomas and that his mother's name was Mary (surname unknown). It is possible that he had a sister named Sarah as well. His death certificate states that his mother's name was Sarah, but I know that since it was my great grandmother who supplied this information it is likely that this is inaccurate.
He died in Canada at a young age, and even my grandmother, who was his daughter, barely knew anything about him. I would just like to be able to determine 1. Where exactly in Ireland he may have been born. 2. What his mother's maiden name actually was. I have been trying to break this brick wall for almost twenty years, and even a small edge would be so welcome.
