How would I purchase a death certificate please for my great Grandad who died in1874? I have a date of death as 14th July 1874, I have Castlecomer, Gurteen and Kilkenny written down for his place of death, I'm guessing they must be close together.
Thanks in advance,
Karen

Hi Karen,
when you find the entry on irishgenealogy.ie (free site) there is a link you click on to order the certificate. If you need further help you might provide the name of your great grandad.

Hi Jim, just looked on their site, they only accept cheques drawn on Bank of Ireland bank. I'm living in Wales. Just going to email to see if I can get a copy any other way. Thanks again, Karen

Karen, Y
ou can pay by credit or debit card. In addition you can also send them cash. Sounds a bit dodgy but it works fine. Print off the application form, and post it with a €20 note inside. A lot of people outside Ireland are nervous about giving their credit card details and so the cash option works for them. Your bank will likely charge you £10 to issue a euro cheque. Not worth it for a small transaction.

Thanks Elwyn,
I may just get a copy of my Great Grandmas birth certificate too to see if they give any clues. I'm struggling to find a marriage between my Great great grandma and great great grandad. This Irish reasearch is so difficult.
I will have to see if I can print the form off as I use an iPad.
Thank you very much.
Kindest regards,
Karen.
